We have been here twice while visiting my parents who live in Johnson City. This restaurant has lots of options and is very reasonably priced. The salads are great and I enjoyed the buffalo wrap on my last visit. Service was fast and friendly.

For a chain restaurant I was pretty impressed with the food. I came here craving some southern fried food but the fish tacos were just to tempting. It ended up being the best decision cause they were so good. There was more than an ample amount of fish and the sauce was delish. My side of mac and cheese was equally amazing and prob the best I've had at a restaurant.

Spinach dip came out cold. The music was too loud. The waiter was great. My husband complained about his meal tasting bland too. Seems to me that the kitchen needs some attention. We come out for good food and we didn't get it here. The food tasted like frozen product and processed.

With a few exceptions, mediocre food and mediocre service. Always crowded, for reasons that continue to escape me. Generic American style menu with no specials. Parking lot is much too small. Only strong plus is the nice decor. Save yourself the wait and go to Chili's (which is in the same shopping center) for a much better meal and faster service.

Totally reasonable for my family of 5. Like a blend of an upscale Shoney's (Southern menu favorites) and Claim Jumper or TGI Fridays. Tennessee courtesy, late dinner - no problem.

Cheddar's is a large and very well-styled building and gets busy as soon as it opens. I arrived at 11:30am waiting for a friend to join me; unfortunately while I waited (about ten to fifteen minutes, as I like to be early), not one of the many waiters who walked by and made eye-contact with me stopped to offer me water. I was disappointed in that aspect, however the food at Cheddar's is make very quickly and is tasty. Cheddar's offers a variety of American food. I enjoyed a delicious buffalo chicken wrap with ranch on the side, and a side of fries. My friend had the chicken pot pie which looked amazing, and it came with a side salad. Our waitress was very attentive during our meal, even as the restaurant got busier. If you are looking for a nice yet casual restaurant in the Tri-Cities area with a variety of delicious and simple foods, you have to try Cheddar's! They really give you a lot of food for a great price.

We recently moved to TN and have been eating at Cheddar's the majority of the time. The staff is courteous and prompt, the food is good and the prices in line with quality and quantity.

For the price, I'd have to say this is worth 5 stars. Just about as much bang for the buck as you can get at a restaurant in the area. Come prepared to wait - almost always huge line. I get the Dijon Chicken. Way to heavy on salt last time though. The due to the cheap way of cooking.

I use to love going to cheddars to eat. But then someone I knew went there and had a really bad experience. If you have never been the place is really dark and personally I don't like eating my meal in the dark. As he was eating a cock roach ran across the table from underneath his plate. I have never been back since then.

I have very mixed feelings about Cheddar's. On one hand, the food is good, honest, reasonably priced, American fare. Quality is consistent; you always know what you are going to get and that it's not going to cost a lot. The place is always crowded, so you know they are doing something right. On the other hand, it is the noisiest restaurant I have ever been in. Even if you sit relatively far away from the kitchen, you still hear the kitchen sounds constantly. And that's not the half of it. They must have some mechanism in there that amplifies the din of the crowd because it's so deafening. It's hard to hold down a conversation. No other restaurant in town is even near as loud as Cheddar's, even when full. The service can also be kind of slow. Now, for specifics -- Great hamburgers. Good, honest, unembellished Fries done the way I like them. Philly cheese steak is very good (although not the best in town). I love their chips & Queso and will sometimes get those to take home for a casual, 1-person supper. Their salads & croissants are also very good.

My husband and I ate there for lunch earlier this month and loved it. The service was pretty good (our waiter was Dustin) and even though he'd been there for 4 years we were the first table he'd ever served a bottle of wine to. People in Johnson City just don't enjoy wine as much as we do here in CA I guess. We split the spinach dip as an appetizer. It was almost too creamy for me but DH loved it. The lunch special was a caramelized pear salad and it was really good. Very refreshing and great flavors. As it turns out we were supposed to get grilled chicken on it and Dustin brought the chicken separately 1/2 way through the course. The chicken was perfectly cooked but the large crystals of sea salt were a definite turn off. The salad had the perfect amount of dressing and the presentation was lovely! We also split the chicken dijon. DH loved it although he said it had more honey than a dijon flavor for him. I thought the dijon was too over powering and will not order it again. Again, he chicken was tender and juicy and the mushrooms were firm. Even though the mushrooms were plain old button mushrooms (I think criminni or portabello mushrooms would have been better) they were fresh. Over all ... all ingredients were fresh, presentation was beautiful, decorating was comfortable and new. Everything was clean (including the restrooms). We will eat there again. Unfortunatley, they do not take reservations and the parking lot fills up quickly (so eat dinner early or later).

I love me some Cheddar's. Service is hit or miss at this location, and they don't take reservations. My friend threw a surprise party here for me one year for my birthday, planned the whole thing and told everyone about it to find out they didn't take reservations. We ended up waiting 2 hours to sit because we had a large party. The food here is great, with generous portions. I love the Ragin' Cajun Chicken Tenders, although they change the name of them about every other month. Overall, the occasionally crappy service is worth it for the food, I'd say.

Yuck yuck and yuck. Everytime I go here with my parents, the service is slow, they often forget to turn in your app orders and the food just seems to be stuff they microwave. Cannot be any real cooking going on here. I gag everytime my mom mentions this places name.

Yea, I have been eating here for years now...maybe 3 or 4 times a month. All I can say is that it's rarely a disappointment. This is one place you can depend on to provide a great meal at a fair price. The menu is a bit restricted but that's what yields the perfection... the cooking staff has this stuff down pat....love their blackened salmon with red beans and rice with a large portion of mashed potatoes...yummm ...PS order the spinach dip with chips as your appetizer! Good stuff.

I had the honey ribs my wife had the salmon. The food was just average. The service was excellent. The atmosphere with live plants instead of silks was very good.

Great restaurant. Wide variety of food. Monte Cristo is great! Steaks are better than the steak houses in Johnson City. Spinach dip is a must. Don't plan on taking a large group. Went for my birthday last year, they tried to cram 8 people in a booth for 6 small people, when a large table was open nearby. I will never go there with more than 4 people.

This place is absolutely dreadful. The first and only time I went there I ordered a grilled chicken with broccoli casserole and side carrots, and it literally arrived 4 minutes after I ordered. It came so fast it was obvious my food was nothing more than a pre-cooked industrial disgrace re-heated in a microwave and served to me with no effort on presentation. From the little I tasted of the chicken, it was bland and chewy. Then I ordered a margarita and that was also tasteless and boring and loaded with ice up to the rim. It was nothing more than a watered down lemonade with a hint of liquor-store margarita mix. I will never frequent any more Cheddar's and do not recommend this chain to anyone. And i don't care that it's affordable, it's not worth risking my health and if i want microwaved processed food for dinner, I can buy it myself at the frozen food section of the supermarket. Not that I ever will, I have higher standards for myself and my eating habits.

This place is extremely popular and I really don't see why. It's sort of like Shoney's or Denny's on steroids. The food is okay. I thought it was over priced. It is sort of the J.C. Penney's of Restaurants, a little bit of everything for the masses. The place is always packed though. Discerning people buy the stock and eat elsewhere.

They are willing to accomodate even a vegan such as myself. Any of their numerous burgers can be made with a vegetarian patty and they can make almost any dish without the meat for you. That's a plus in my book! Also the food is cheap and tasty. Only $5-6 bucks for lunch is great!
